A Visual History of NHL Points Leaders
It's no secret that "big points" is trending downward. It follows the historical goals-per-game data as well, which has been at a steady low level of around 2.75 since the 2011-12 season.
The last time the NHL had more than one 100-point-plus scorer was in 2010. The other interesting observation in recent years is the gap between the top scorer and the next scorer. In 2017, and 11-point gap. 2016 (17-point gap). 2015 (no 100-point scorer). 2014 (17-point gap). 2012 (12-point gap).
